Celebrate Spring and Happiness – starting March 20
The first day of Spring this year is also the International Day of Happiness.
It’s about celebrating new life, growth, thriving and the benefits of flourishing in life and relationships. A life well lived. Wholehearted Wellbeing. The good life.
The General Assembly of the United Nations commissioned a Day of Happiness, to raise awareness that happiness, human flourishing and wellbeing are fundamental. We are invited to support everyone’s ability to achieve this through all spheres of life.
Flourishing people tend to be happier, healthier and smarter.
They are more grateful, generous, creative, productive and open minded.
They develop good character that guides great actions.
Join in cultivating conditions to flourish as a daily priority in your life, your community, your city and your country.
It doesn’t take much to be a ‘joy spreader’ – to join the ‘happiness movement’.
The small and simple things can have a great impact.
Smile. Laugh. Pray. Give a hug. Give from the heart. Give back. Flow forward. Listen. Share a kind word. Say thank you. Lend a helping hand. Be a friend. Offer hospitality.
Your gestures of goodness, kindness and happiness will spread like a contagion.
We need the beauty of goodness and joy
to protest and balance against the brokenness and suffering in the world.
Create a ripple effect of reciprocal acts of gratitude, love, joy, goodness, kindness.
The correlation between happiness and healthiness, longevity, productivity and strong personal relationships is common sense. And is now verified by substantial research reported and expounded in many books, websites like Authentic Happiness and Live Happy magazine. www.livehappy.com
What is your definition of ‘the good and beautiful life’ – of ‘happiness’?
Everyone in every culture has a different concept of happiness.
Flourishing. Growth. Wellbeing. A life well lived. Contentment. A complete life.
The causes and triggers of short-term happiness may differ, but research is verifying that what sustains long-term happiness – joy, wellbeing, contentment – whatever you choose to call it – seems to be universal to all cultures. God created us this way.
About 40% of your own level of happiness is entirely within your own control.
